Software that fits your municipality.

Every community operates differently. CivicTally helps municipalities select, configure, and implement practical software around their needs — and we stay involved after launch.

Our services

Municipal Software Implementation

We set up each product for your municipality and stay involved through launch. That means configuring the product around your departments, preparing the public-facing experience, checking it with your staff, and helping you introduce it to residents.

In practice

  • Configure report categories, municipal boundaries, department routing, notification recipients, and resident guidance.

  • Prepare the base map, set up authorized accounts, and outline the first planning scenarios with your team.

Product Customization

Every community operates differently. Within each product, we adjust the available features and workflows to fit how your municipality works — turning modules on or off, shaping categories and labels, and matching your branding — without turning a practical product into a custom software project.

In practice

  • Choose modules — archives, transcripts, topics, summaries, voting records, calendars, newsletters — based on your needs and available records.

  • Select peer communities for comparison and present the budget with your municipality’s name and identity.

Data Preparation

Our products work from information your municipality already produces. We do the work of gathering, structuring, and checking it, so your staff don’t have to reformat documents or learn new tools.

In practice

  • Gather published recordings, agendas, and minutes, and process the historical archive you choose to include.

  • Structure line items, departments, and categories from your official budget documents for review by finance staff.

  • Assemble base map layers from supported public geographic sources and data you choose to provide.

Staff Training & Support

Software only helps if people are comfortable using it. We walk staff through the tools they will use day to day, answer questions as they come up, and help you make adjustments as you learn what works for your community.

In practice

  • Walk department staff through reviewing reports, moderating content, marking issues fixed, and verifying outcomes.

  • Train planners on drawing, scenarios, and sharing before the first working session or exercise.

Focused on our products — and on your success with them.

  • Product-led, not consulting-led

Our services support CivicTally’s own products. We don’t sell open-ended consulting hours.

  • Right-sized for smaller municipalities

Implementation is scoped for communities without large IT departments or long project timelines.

  • Built on what you already publish

Meeting records, budget documents, and public geographic data are the foundation — not new data entry.

  • Clear about scope

We tell you what each product does, what depends on your available records, and what it doesn’t do.

Questions about working with us

Ask us anything
Is CivicTally a consulting firm?

No. CivicTally is a software company. Our services exist to help municipalities implement and get value from CivicTally’s own products — CivicReport, CivicMeeting, CivicBudget, and CivicMaps.

How much staff time does implementation require?

We aim to keep it modest. Typically we need a few conversations with the people who know the process best, access to the documents or sources involved, and staff review before launch. The exact effort depends on the product and how many departments are involved.

Do we need an IT department?

No. The products run in a web browser, and CivicTally handles setup and data preparation. It helps to have one point of contact who can coordinate with the departments involved.

Can we start with one product and add others later?

Yes. Each product stands on its own. Many communities start with one — often CivicBudget or CivicReport — and consider others once the first is established.

How is pricing determined?

Pricing depends on the product, the modules you choose, and the scope of setup. We discuss it openly during the discovery conversation once we understand what you need.

Can you work with our procurement process?

Yes. Let us know what your process requires, and we’ll provide the information we can — product scope, implementation steps, and data handling details — so you can evaluate it properly.

Start with a conversation.

Tell us what you’re trying to improve. We’ll recommend a practical starting point and explain exactly what implementation would involve.
